There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are established in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are methods around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel compound that highlights many luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
