Cambodia Gambling Halls
March 4th, 2019 by Jaiden

There is an appealing history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall betting is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect location, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and although visas are apparently needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that features a number of conveniences in addition to the gambling den, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 table games.
