Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where casino gambling is against the law. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime spot, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are supposedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel building that features numerous amenities accompanying the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machines and eighty eight tables.
